About
Philip Marriott
Philip Marriott is Professor in the School of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at Monash University. His previous academic appointments were at the National University of Singapore, and RMIT University. This was preceded by a postdoctoral position at the University of Bristol. His main research activities are in Analytical Chemistry, specifically gas chromatography (multidimensional GC and comprehensive 2D GC) with mass spectrometry.
Professor Marriott is recipient of an ARC Discovery Outstanding Researcher Award.
He has recently been awarded a Special Visiting Researcher on a Brazil CNPq grant, administered by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in conjunction with the Agricultural Institute EMBRAPA.
Prior to this, he was awarded a World Class University (WCU) Distinguished Professorship, under the Korean Research Foundation, with Chung-Ang University, Seoul.
The Federation of Asian Chemical Societies (FACS) awarded Professor Marriott their senior research award, the Foundation Lectureship Award for 2017, in the field of Analytical Chemistry, presented at the FACS Congress, Melbourne, July 2017.
In 2019, Professor Marriott was awarded the COLACRO Medal. This was presented by the Organising Committee of the XVII COLACRO Meeting (Latin American Symposium on Chromatography and Related Techniques), Aracaju, Sergipe State, Brazil. 15 July 2019. The award was for “Contributions to the Development of Chromatography in Latin America”.
Professor Marriott was the recipient of the “Halász Medal Award” 2021. The award is named after the prominent Hungarian Separation Scientist, Professor István Halász, who was a Professor at the J.W. Goethe University, Frankfurt. The presentation was made by the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences, 18 Oct 2021, at the 25th anniversary of the Foundation of the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences.
