About
Nicholas Snow

Nicholas H. Snow is Founding Endowed Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Seton Hall University, and an Adjunct Professor of Medical Science. He holds a BS in Chemistry (1987) from the University of Virginia and a PhD in analytical chemistry (1992) from Virginia Tech, where he performed research on computer simulations of gas chromatography under the
guidance of Professor Harold McNair. During his 30 years as a chromatographer, he has published more than 80 refereed articles and book chapters and has given more than 200 presentations and short courses. He is co-author of the third edition of the classic book “Basic Gas Chromatography” (2019) and editor of a new volume “Basic Multidimensional Gas Chromatography” due in 2020. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Liquid Chromatography and Related Technologies and is the new GC Connections Editor for LC-GC Magazine. He serves on several editorial boards, has been a member of the Governing Board of the Eastern Analytical Symposium for over 20 years and was its President in 2001. He is interested in the fundamentals and applications of separation science, especially gas chromatography, sampling, and sample preparation for chemical analysis. His research group is very active, with ongoing projects using GC, GC–MS, two-dimensional GC, and extraction methods including headspace, liquid–liquid extraction, and solid-phase microextraction. In 2018 he was awarded Seton Hall’s Bishop Bernard J. McQuaid Medal for outstanding long-term service and support of the university mission.
