Michael Breadmore

Professor Michael Breadmore obtained his PhD from UTAS in 2001, and DSc in 2017, and has made a continued and sustained contribution towards miniaturized analytical technology and platforms for clinical, forensic, environmental and food applications.  He has published over 180 peer-reviewed papers with over 7500 citations (h= 44), supported over the past 16 years at UTAS with over $20M of research funding. He was funded as an ARC Fellow upon return to Australia (2004-2008), a QEII Fellow (2009-2013) for which he received the JG Russell Award, and a Future Fellow (2014-2017). He has received a number of national and international prizes and recognition, including one of three finalists in the Eureka Outstanding Young Researcher Award for the best young scientist in Australia aged 35 or less (2011), the “analytical chemistry” field leader by the Australian Research Magazine (2018; 2019), and listed in the Analytical Scientist’s power list of the top 100 analytical chemists in the world (2014, 2017, 2019, 2020). He is an editor of the Journal of Chromatography A, serves on the editorial board of 4 other journals, and is the Director of the Australian Centre for Research on Separation Science.
