Dr. Pistos obtained his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, before he pursues his MS and PhD studies in the field of pharmaceutical analysis and quality control of drugs, at the University of Athens, Greece. After his graduate studies, Dr. Pistos held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Georgia Athens, GA, USA, before returning to Greece and serving as director of a private CRO bioanalytical lab in the field of pharmacokinetics. Between 2006 and 2015, Dr. Pistos served as faculty member at the department of forensic medicine and toxicology of the School of Medicine, University of Athens, Greece. At this position, along with his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Pistos also served as forensic toxicology practitioner, handling more than 3000 forensic toxicology cases, and as Quality Assurance Manager of the department’s ISO 17025 accredited lab. Since 2015, he has been a faculty member at the Department of Chemistry of West Chester University of Pennsylvania, teaching in the Forensic & Toxicological Chemistry (FTC) program. Currently, he is holding the position of Associate Professor and serves as director of the FTC program. He has published more than fifty articles and four book chapters while he presented more than thirty-five research works in meetings, in the fields of forensic toxicology, and pharmaceutical analysis. He is a member of The International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT), the Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientist (NEAFS), and member of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors - Membership Resource Committee (ASCLD-MRC).
