Host-Cell Protein Impurities in Chromatographic Purification of Monoclonal Antibodies
with Abraham Lenhoff

About This Meeting
For protein therapeutics produced using recombinant DNA technology, the many proteins native to the producing (host) cells represent impurities that must be removed. These host-cell proteins (HCPs) have long been monitored collectively but in recent years an additional focus has been on small amounts of individual proteins that can be deleterious to the product or the patient; such HCPs have sometimes been found to persist into the final drug product. This presentation will discuss the mechanisms suspected of causing HCP persistence through individual chromatographic purification steps and ways in which the biophysical interactions in a complex mixture can impact product purity.
