About This Meeting

Abstract:
This lecture gives briefly my background, formal education, training and work experience with both MS and GC to become an expert in the Characterization of Terrorist Bomb Residues for the FBI, CIA and DOD ( Homeland Security). I taught a two-week GC lecture/lab course for the FBI, for 14 years at Quantico, VA, 1971-1895. They relied on my lab for a lot of explosive analysis In 1986 | received my first DOD Contract at Va Tech to evaluate commercial BOMB DETECTORS. None of them had the sensitivity required. I knew and used both Chem, lon. MS and GC-ECD to do a series of Federally Funded contracts from 1990-2008 at Virginia Tech.
1.Evaluate commercial bomb detectors
2.Train dogs to smell bombs. Verify that my unusual methods were as good as, maybe better the US -Air Force training center at Lackland A.F.B., Texas.
3. I set up, monitored and stock-piled a Federally Supported Explosive Bunker in rural Virginia containing kilos of every known explosive. I was allowed, by a Federal Contract, to have 10 gram samples in my lab.
‘Several good stories in all of these activities.

A Zoom Teleconference Presentation
Please Note: The CFDV continues to observe health and safety based restrictions for all members and other parties interested in the separation sciences in this time of COVID19 pandemic. We are also committed to promotion and development in all aspects of separation sciences by sharing our professional experiences with the greater public. In order to match both of these commitments, we will conduct this presentation by video teleconference. Our selected platform for this event will be Zoom. A note about Zoom: If you have not used Zoom before, you have several options to access this
teleconference tool. Windows, Apple (various formats), Android, Chromebooks and Linux systems should all have easy access to Zoom. If you are using Android or an iPhone, you can
access your usual applications store and download the Zoom app at no cost. On most computers you can access it at https://zoom.us/ and choose your preferred access construct. Some browsers
such as Firefox do have a zoom patch you can also use so it will run as a feature of the browser. Also: You may have heard of some security issues with Zoom. Zoom has apparently been cleaning up that issue with their product. However, some folks using computers networked with sensitive databases are still skeptical of Zoom. Check with your IT people if you are using such a networked computer to see if they approve.

You should be able to access Zoom as an attendee for no cost to either Zoom or the CFDV
