About This Meeting

Abstract:
Natural products are rich source of bioactive molecules with pharmacological activity e.g. flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, etc. Although many studies have been carried out on the chemical characterization of these samples, there is still plenty of interest in the discovery of novel compounds. Conventional one-dimensional liquid chromatography (1D-LC) does usually provide sufficient resolving power for their determination. However, in some cases their complexity overwhelms the separation capability afforded by 1D-LC requiring more powerful analytical technologies for their characterization. Comprehensive two-dimensional LC (LC×LC) involving the coupling of two or more orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal separation systems is an interesting alternative, being in many cases being also selective and sensitive enough to detect minor components. For the analysis of natural products, in the last two decades, several LC×LC methodologies, e.g. NP×RP, RP×RP and HILIC×RP, coupled to photodiode array and mass spectrometry detection have been successfully investigated for tackling such a task. In this contribution, several LC×LC applications will be discussed.

A Zoom Teleconference Presentation
Please Note: The CFDV continues to observe health and safety restrictions for all members
and other parties interested in the separation sciences during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are
also committed to promotion and development in all aspects of separation sciences by sharing
our professional experiences with the community. To fulfill these commitments, we will
conduct this presentation by video teleconference. Our selected platform for this event will be
Zoom.
