the growing pharmaceutical and biotechnology areas of drug discovery and development. AMT is located in
Wilmington, Delaware. AMT’s primary products are in the field of High Performance Liquid Chromatography
(HPLC) columns. HPLC is the most commonly used analytical method in the world and AMT’s products are

Position Description
Advanced Materials Technology is looking for a skilled and motivated analytical scientist with a Ph.D. in
chemistry or a related field, possessing strong chromatography and mass spectrometry (LCMS) skills with at
least 10 years bench experience and extensive practical application of separations to lead AMT’s innovation
support and applications development efforts in designing and executing HPLC and LCMS experiments for
the technical understanding, claim substantiation and promotion of AMT HPLC columns from concept
development through real world market implementation. The successful candidate has a proven track record
of outcome-based leadership of projects and technical personnel.
This role, based out of Wilmington, Delaware serves to support adoption of AMT HPLC columns and aims to
provide a motivated individual with a rewarding and challenging career leading a team of scientists and
interfacing with engineers and customers. This position embodies the AMT culture of customer service,
teamwork and self-motivation.The Separations Science Manager will report to the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
• Chromatography Expert Lead
o Develop analytical LC and LCMS capabilities and skill set of the team including systematic and
practical (customer-friendly) approaches to method development and data analysis
o Assist applications teams in the development of the separation workflow with emphasis on
chromatographic instrument and technique optimization.
o Deepen understanding and chromatographic troubleshooting skill set including both
chromatogram evaluation and recognizing instrument failures and opportunities for improvement.
o Mentor and further develop the scientific writing skills of the applications team through generation
of data reports, technical papers, and abstracts for conference talks, posters.
• Innovation Support
o Provide effective support in the characterization of new and existing products through timely
planning, performing, and reporting customer requests and project work
o Develop new chromatographic methods to address customer and business needs
o Work with Key Opinion Leaders and collaboration partners to further develop AMT’s visibility in
the marketplace and bring ideas to R&D
• Commercial Support
o Interface with customers, suppliers, and colleagues as a recognized chromatography expert
o Prepare high quality written reports and presentation materials suitable to support the
development of marketing materials
o Present data in both written and verbal formats, internally and externally to customers including
AMT’s distributor and partner network through various forums such as webinars, seminars, and
scientific conferences and in written format through application notes, papers and posters.
Functional/Technical Requirements:
• Ph.D. with 10 years industry experience
• Demonstrated strong fundamental chromatography skill set (publications, papers)
• Analytical laboratory experience, including preparing biological samples
• Biochemistry experience is a plus
• Management experience, 5+ years preferred
• Perform all duties within the Company’s safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Travel to conferences and customer meetings as business necessitates.

Additional Information
The successful candidate must have the necessary documentation to work in the United States and should be capable of
safely working with chemicals and other hazardous materials. Employment is subject to acceptable completion of a physical
