At Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), NIBR Informatics serves the global NIBR research community to provide them with the best of breed, bleeding edge informatics platforms as well as in-depth data analysis services. The members in this group have a chance to participate in the ground breaking medical research activities that re-define the grammar for medicine in Discovery, Preclinical and Clinical environments..

This candidate will join a Scientific Informatics Systems Group, and work closely with scientists to provide informatics systems to support the drug discovery process, specifically in the area of translational pharmacokinetics, and early clinical studies. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated team player with a strong understanding of PK and Clinical data, as well as strong experience in software engineering with proven record of building and implementing effective tools and systems for scientists.

Responsibilities:
•Work closely with scientists to understand and document their processes, scientific and business needs and system requirements
•Assess the internal and external data ecosystems to define proper and flexible data management solution(s)
•Ability to execute rapid prototyping to refine requirements
•Execute tasks and deliverables associated with the software development lifecycle and prototyping methodologies
•Work with and/or lead internal and external software teams to design and implement solutions that meet the scientists’ needs
•Ability to work across various Novartis IT groups such as NIBR Informatics and NBS IT and experience with managing software vendors to efficiently and effectively deliver and support solutions

Minimum requirements

•Masters degree in computer science and/or advanced degree in biology or systems biology
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work in a large global matrix organization
•Proven capabilities interacting with scientists and being customer service oriented
•Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
•Experience in supporting systems and data in both Discovery, Preclinical and Phase I Clinical Trials
•Extensive knowledge in the pharmacokinetic data and system management space with a focus on ADME, toxicokinetics, PK tools and applications used in translational science research
•Extensive knowledge with clinical trial data and system management
•Knowledge in multichannel solutions to support clinical trial advertisement and recruitment
•Experience in working with clinical and nonclinical data standards (CDISC, ODM, SDTM, ADaM, SEND)
•Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals of cloud computing and architecture (preferably AWS)
•Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals of software and data architecture. Proven delivery in the scientific environment is a must
•Familiar with programming languages such as: SQL, VB, Java, C++. C#
•Experience in Content Management Servers (CMS) such as Drupal and Episerver
•Experience in working in the pharmaceutical environment and knowledge of health authority regulations (GxPs)
•Experience in working in interdisciplinary context to analyze business requirements and to develop application in a drug discovery, scientific or biotech environments
